HCO was appointed to provide construction supervision. Building a 215 room hotel within the setting of a World Heritage landscape places a particular weight on supervision, because the standard being protected on site is not only the specification but the conservation intent that sits behind it.
The architecture combines modern aesthetics with traditional desert construction techniques, using thick walls and shaded courtyards to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the building’s carbon footprint. These are not decorative references. Thermal mass and self-shading do real work in this climate, and they only deliver if they are built as drawn, which is exactly what site supervision exists to secure.
The hotel caters to both leisure and business travellers, offering two dining venues, flexible meeting spaces, a swimming pool with a bar, and a fitness centre. With its focus on responsible design and guest comfort, it sets a standard for sustainable hospitality in the region. Its four-star classification reflects the quality of both design and service, making it a reliable base for visitors exploring AlUla’s heritage and natural landscape.
